Pain......urgh

So my surgery was more than 7 months ago and I am still suffering. Everything seemed to be going fine until around the end of Feb. I started getting really intense pain deep inside my abdomen. Almost like a intense pressure, and it radiated to my lower back. Some days I had to stay in bed most of the day. I tried everything I could to help it. The Doctors could not figure it out and they kept telling me to take vicatin and other pain relievers. Nothing worked!! Finally after about 2 months and about 10 Doctor visits they finally sent me to someone who knew what they were doing-a pelvic specialist. She finally gave me a diagnosis to the problem-Pelvic muscle pain. Not only that but I had scar tissue pain that was causing "trigger point" pain. First they decided to give me a steroid injection into my trigger point on my abdomen. That helped the trigger point pain but not the pelvic pain. I also started taking Amitriptyline (antideppresant) to help with the pain. I was instructed to up the dose ever 5 days until I felt like it was helping. This medication makes you drowsy and gives you "medication hangover" the next morning. This caused, and still does, many late arrivals to work. I finally found the dose that works though. I started going to Physical Therapy in May. The PT I go to is a specialist in the pelvic area. She noticed my pelvic muscles were spasming and causing referred pain to my abdomen. My pelvic muscles were causing the pain in my abdomen!! She has been working with me almost every week, somtimes every two weeks and it has helped. She was suprised that I had this problem since she only has one other patient with pelvic spasms. What my Specialist said is sometimes when you have an abdominal surgery the muscles tense up...almost like a defense mechanism. So now they are tense all the time.....and the PT is working to help them relax. She is also helping with the scar tissue problems. The pain I have is very hard to explain but it almost feels like I have done like 500 sit ups and my muscles are soar...the soar that really hurts. Also I can feel the spasms in my pelvic mucles and sometimes it causes spasms in my legs or back. My PT decided to go on vacation so I have not seen her in three weeks and I can really feel it!! I was stepping down my meds when all of a sudden the pain got worse again-probably from not seeing the PT. The pain is managable but some days it wipes me out since i sit all day. I have gained 15lbs since the surgery (i know horrible) and I want to blame it all on the pain and the fact that I can't really move around alot....but I guess I could do better. I can't believe the surgery has caused so much pain. The specialist said the pain might never go away but I will know how to manage it better. Wow..... On top of it all of course I lost an ovary but I still get really bad cramps with the one I still have!! I have good days and bad days...and I have gotten used to the constant pain....but sometimes it really really gets to me. I just wish it would go away already!!! Oh and stress makes it worse.....so there is that too. Okay now that I have made myself depressed i will end this sad tale.

Hello and welcome to our new blog. I used to have a website but they decided to raise the price so I decided to cancel it. Oh well.... Now I can just update my blog with all our latest news. The picture you see is from the last time we were at Disneyland on May 26, 2008. We have not been back since because we are blocked during most of the summer. We are looking forward to going back on Sept 1st. I guess that is all for now
